Week 3 Term 4 Planting Seeds

This term in Incredible 8 we are learning about different ways we can take care of the environment. Today we had some special helpers come to Room 8 and show us how to plant seeds. It will be our responsibility to take care our own plant and make sure we give it just the right amount of water.

Here are some instruction our class created on how to plant seeds.

All projects are to be made AT school on Thursday and taken home on Friday after school or it will be binned. If you are available to help on Thursday, please let Miss R know.

Term 4 Week 1 Powhiri

Welcome back to school. We hope you had a relaxing holidays.

We started our term with a Powhiri to welcome new and returning students to the school.

Week 9 Ronald McDonald Visit

Today, we had a very special visitor and it was Ronald McDonald. He came to Bull’s school to talk to us about road safety. He had a big book and Mrs Hammond had to read the story. The book was nearly as big as him. In the story, he was doing his washing when the sock flew away and he was trying to find it.

We learnt that in the car we have to MAKE IT CLICK and when we walk on the pavement we have to walk on the house side.

When we are near a driveway or a crossing, we need to STOP, LOOK and LISTEN.

We helped him find his sock on his back. Joshua helped him pull it off. The sock turned into a puppet who now lives at Bulls School. It was loud, noisy and really, really funny. We enjoyed the show.

Week 9 Cross Country

On Monday, we had our cross country at the Rangitikei Golf Course. Lot of our parents came to watch and it was fun watching the other races. We tried really hard in our races.

Room 8 were troopers. The course was up and down, and felt longer than just running around the field at school even though it was not longer. We did a great job, especially Xzaviah who was 2nd in the year 1 boys; Lillie was 2nd and Meg was 3rd in the year 1 girls.

Many thanks to the Hughes family for being our photographers on the day.

Week 8 Number Goals

In Room 8, we have been practising counting backwards from 20 and writing our numbers correctly.

Here are some examples.

We have also been looking at different ways to show a number, like using our fingers, tens frames, tallies, dice etc.

Here is an example of the different ways we can show how old we are.

Week 7 Discovery Time

This week in discovery we learnt lot of things and had lots of fun
  • Practised stitching with Mrs Glassey
  • Found things that were magnetic
  • Set up a shop and made our own credit card/money
  • Dressed up and played pretends
  • Created tricky hop scotches that test our balance.
  • Constructed a mini golf course
  • Created spinning snakes....
  • AND MORE!

Week 7 Get Wise

Rooms 8 and 9 had a special visitor come to our class. He came to talk to us about MONEY!!! He talked to us how NOT to be a money muncher and waste money, but how to be a money hero.

We can be money heros when we buy only what we need - such as food, clothes, homes and school stuff. We need to save our money for things we want - such as toys, extra clothes, computers and cool cars. We need to make sure that we have enough money for the things we need before we buy things we want.

We talked about coins and notes, for what we can use them and which is worth more/less.

Week 7 Maui the Superhero Production

This week, we did THREE performances of Maui the Superhero and it was a great success. Everyone in the school did an amazing job and we were super proud of our dance.

Below are photos and clips of Room 8's performances. If you would like to see our full performance in better quality, a DVD of the performance will be available for purchase at the office next term. Keep an eye out for the newsletter in your child's book bag or on the school website for further details.
